Hello Goddess!
Today's recipe was a special request from Sharon P. in Brooklyn, NY. She LOVES our Coconut Shea Butter Recipe and wanted to know if I had something similar, specifically for the cooler months.
Of Course Goddess!
This recipe is made with all-natural, organic butters and oils you can find in most grocery food stores. I'm using the coconut oil I buy from Trader Joe's, and the rest are from here, here, and right here:)
"Velvet" is a rich, healing body butter that's perfect for Fall & Winter. It works like a thick body butter by absorbing well into the skin without being greasy.
*You will need:
- cocoa butter
- shea butter
- coconut oil
- avocado oil
Cocoa Butter - softens and lubricates the skin
Shea Butter - anti-inflammatory, it protects the skin from dehydration
Coconut Oil - heals, smoothes, and protects hair and skin
Avocado Oil - a natural sunscreen, it penetrates and moisturizes the skin
If you don't have avocado oil, olive oil is a wonderful substitution.

The video is almost done for this recipe, but here's a sneak peek at the cooling process! After melting the oil, pour it into your jar or heat safe container.
Continue to cool.
I like to speed the process so I put the butter in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.
It's getting there...
I put it back in for another 15 minutes until it looked like this...
It's ready!
This butter may also be used from head to toe. Your ends will love a little before bed:)

Hi Erica,
do you have to do the heating? Can you just mix all the oils and butters in a food processor?
Hi FineNaturalHairandFaith,
No — you don’t have to heat this at all. The food processor is THE BEST for this recipe, especially if working with solid (almost as hard as a brick) butters. My food processor bit the dust a few months ago and I’ve been shopping for another one. What kind do you use?
I hope this recipe worked well for your gorgeous curls :)
Erica
ah good thank you. I use the Ninja. when I bought my Ninja blender, it came with it. I forgot I had it and had never used it so now its dedicated to all my hair recipes :-)
I just made this! It’s not cooled yet but going to do some lavender and eucalyptus oil in there so I can use this is a body rub
