Happy May Beautiful!

I’ve got my Mai Tai, beach bag, big floppy hat and sunscreen ready.

Tomorrow is my birthday so I’ve been celebrating all week, and intend to keep the party going for the entire month — starting with BT (aka beach therapy)!

Lavish is still up in twists and as I prepare to take them down, I’ve been thinking about which styles to turn to for the summer.

Luckily, Health & Beauty Diva, Ms. Nina Harwell from Beauty Addicts Online, has selected some great styles for us to consider during the summer months.

I don’t know about you, but those faux locs have my name on them!

Summer Hair Trends

Think your natural hair is going to be a hassle this summer? Well think again! This years trends are cute, easy, and guaranteed to turn heads!

The Wash and Go

When the weather is turned up to the max, it can be hard to find a style that will last all day long. I love wash and go’s in the summer mostly because I get to saturate my hair with water daily.

Water is essential to maintain healthy hair in the summers heat, it is the best way to keep the hair hydrated and it makes my curls look gorgeous.

The wash and go is quick and easy but I always receive major compliments for letting my natural texture free.

If you want to spice up your wash and go adding a pop of color or even a cute little headband will work.

Natural Weaves

Remember this clip from Chris Rock’s breakthrough film Good Hair?

Well I am excited to say black hair is back in full effect!

Since more women are embracing their natural texture, it has actually become a demand for weave that mirrors black hair.

Celebs like Kelly Rowland are notorious for rocking her kinky textured weave and it looks great!

This is the perfect protective style for those who don’t want to deal with their natural hair this summer, but still want a natural look. It’s also great for naturalistas with a TWA who can’t bare to wait any longer!

Faux Locs

Dreadlocks are something a lot of people want to try but are afraid of they day they want to part ways.

Yes, it’s true, with the right hair texture you can use loads of conditioner to detangle but who wants to go through that?

Faux locs are created using marley hair or yarn that is wrapped around single twists to create a natural effect.

You can add some personality by using different colors or creating intricate styles! I am actually inspired to try doing my own faux locs, I’ve been dying to have them for so long!!

Ready For Change?

If you were looking for the perfect hair change, take a stab at some of these summer trends!

These trends will make you look great while helping your hair maintain optimal health through the sizzling summer months.

Post a photo in the comments of your favorite go-to style for the summer!

Hello Goddess, I’m Erica

Welcome to Lavishly Natural! You should know that I get really excited over cactus gel and fresh aloe vera leaves. I believe fenugreek seeds are the new flaxseeds, and that mini twists will save the world.
Power to the fro.
