Hello Goddess!
It’s been a while since my last update and I have A LOT to tell you!
When we last talked, I was doing the rice water challenge (which worked for the first month), and I was still having issues with dry hair. Find out what happened and what finally worked in this week’s video.
Products Mentioned
I give everything I’ve used from QB a 5! (This is not a sponsored post)
Amla & Olive Heavy Cream ($21, 8.9 oz) - Heavy enough to bring moisture back to your ends, but light enough to use everyday if you need it. You can apply this to wet or dry hair. I prefer to wet my hair first (lightly - like a nice mist all over) and apply a little cocoa tree detangling ghee as the leave-in.
The hydration from this is enough to last a few days. Really, really good for dry, brittle, greying, low and high porosity, 4C natural hair.
Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee ($22, 8.9 oz) - This is my favorite QB product. MY FAVORITE! It’s very creamy and looks like it would be supper thick and heavy. It acts like a thick and heavy product when it comes to dry tom foolery in your hair strands.
But it goes on light, glides onto your hair and softens, conditions, nourishes, and moisturizes instantly. I had hair that felt like straw in the front, especially some of the newly grey strands. With this ghee, I can’t tell the difference between textures anymore.
I ran out of this last week and I’m waiting on my order. I’m not ashamed to tell you that I feel like driving to their location in Tampa, FL and picking up a crate! It’s not that far from Phoenix, right?
This is also a conditioner so it’s perfect to use right after washing. It’s also the PERFECT Leave-in. If you still find this product a bit too heavy, try the Morning Tree Conditioning Ghee.
Moringa Tree Conditioning Ghee ($22, 8 oz) - Everything I said about the cocoa tree detangling ghee applies to this except this product is thinner. If you have low porosity hair or very fine hair, this product is for you. I like to use this on my daughters’ hair because it light but extremely moisturizing. It’s thin and awesome.
It’s also the perfect daily leave-in.
Castor & Amla Nourishing Pomade ($16.50, 4 oz) - Perfect sealant for your ends. I love to use this on our roots and to add shine and slickness to ponytail edges and pretty buns. A little of this goes a long way and I love that. It also has a nice scent.
Aethiopika Hydrate & Twist Butter ($8.00, sample size, .53 oz) - You know I love a good twist butter and this one did not disappoint. It’s left my twisted styles (havana, mini, chunky, with and without extensions) feeling juicy and well-hydrated.
My hair loves this so much, it can drink it up overnight and leave me with moisturized goodness in the morning. It’s even better when used with the Moringa Tree Conditioning Ghee.
Naturtint Permanent Hair Color in Ebony Black 1N ($12.88, per box, I needed 2 for my hair) - I am really happy with my hair color and I think the ammonia free-ness of naturtint agrees with my ends. I dyed my hair in October and it’s now February and the color still looks great. I have some grey roots coming in but I’m not sure when I’ll dye it again. I’ll let the grey guide me:)
I will use this product again the next time I color my hair. Their shampoo felt a little strip-ish, so I’ll use my own after the initial rinse with theirs. I used my conditioner but the shampoo was drying after about the 2nd rinse. It took 4 or 5 to get all of the color out.
I didn’t experience any damage from the color then or now (YEZZZ) and I don’t plan on coloring my ends the next time I touch up these roots.
Product Not Mentioned In The Video, But I Can’t Go On Without It
I went back to using Jamaican Black Castor Oil (JBCO) for scalp massage and as a sealant for my ends. I buy the 8 oz bottles from Tropic Isle Living ($12.99).
I LOVE THIS OIL — can you tell? Only the bottle in the front is full…
I use the this to keep my thick, cottony, coily greatness, thick and cottony. Jamaican black castor oil is great for hair growth, and even better for thickening whatever you put it on (watch those legs:). We use it to our skin soft and glowing, and for hair growth.
When I was experiencing thinning in the very front of my hair, JBCO brought thickness back to the area and increased hair growth there by about an inch over 4 weeks. Luckily, I was using it for scalp massage all over my head!
How about you Goddess? Have you ever dyed your natural hair? Do you have a fave QB Product?
