Hello Beautiful!
Welp, I did it.
I looked in the mirror - decided it was time, and did another Big Chop.
The difference this time was that I didn’t need scissors, Jesus, or a cheerleading squad holding my hand in the process (I do keep the last two on speed dial).
How did I do it without scissors?
I Big Chopped my makeup and went natural in a whole new way!
Luv Mineral Cosmetics
It’s my job as Mom CEO, to find the toxins and harmful chemicals that can be lurking in my family’s foods, hair and body care products.
I’m not 100% just yet, some of my cleaning supplies and laundry softeners aren’t totally chemical free. I am testing Mrs. Meyer’s Products (the basil scented hand soap and laundry detergent is amazing).
I do make a BIG effort each week, one product at a time.
With children who have allergies, me with sensitive skin, and removing heavy metals and toxins from our son’s system, I admit — I’m quite maniacal about the subject.
So while shopping for new lipstick (I have my priorities:), I discovered Luv Mineral Cosmetics.
In addition to their organic makeup remover, they also have natural lip gloss, eyeshadows, and other things I wanted to try.
Then I saw it…
I was browsing their website and saw their blog where I read the following:
While it may be easy to simply stop putting damaging chemicals in your hair there is a certain transitional period and a “Big Chop” that isnt’ always so easy despite a beneficial purpose. Although this trend in hair care especially in the African American community is admirable in many ways, it also makes me wonder when the switch to natural makeup will be made as well?
Now if you are like I used to be, you are currently obsessed with some popular brand with a high fan base and even higher prices. And although it feels as if this brand can do know wrong , reports of harsh and unsafe chemicals in the media can not be ignored. Neurotoxins such as lead in a lipstick used frequently could lead to serious health problems due to unknowing consumption. Natural cosmetics should be taken just as seriously as natural hair care. And we as women should be working diligently to treat all aspects of our body with safe and healthy products. When will your cosmetics “Big Chop” be?
WOW.
They were speaking my language.
I placed an order and began using their eyeshadow (Emerald), lip gloss (Pinking of You), eyeliner pencil (Black), and blush (Tyson Brown).
Here’s my review of what happened next…
