Lavender flowersare naturally hydrating and nourishing to the skin. According to WebMD, these flowers are a “possibly effective” treatment for alopecia areata (hair loss).

If you’re making a large juicy batch of tea, consider preserving your extras. I’ve been using optiphen for my handmade goodies for about 2 years.

Optiphen is a paraben and formaldehyde-free preservative. It keeps the microbial growth from bacteria and yeast from ruining your creams, gels, and juicy hair tonics. It also works well in both oil-based creams and lotions, as well as water-based shampoos and conditioners.

It doesn’t change the feel or texture of your handmade delight. It will extend the life of things like homemade gels, conditioners, lotions, bubble baths and delicious hair teas.

As with all products, especially handmade, research all ingredients and test this product on your skin prior to use.

Where To Buy Ingredients

I ordered my lavender buds and chamomile flowers fromThe Sage. This is the same place Martha Stewart buys her lavender from and it smells amazing! I purchased my optiphen from The Herbarie.

  • Be aware of how good you feel as your day evolves, and how much faster your hair grows from week to week :D

I love your idea of hair affirmations. Since we are the thoughts that we speak to ourselves, it makes a lot of sense to speak kind words to our hair. I always tell my family that your hair can hear bad things that you say about it or think, so you have to be kind and think kind about your hair. I just said both affirmations right now lol. Thank you for sharing your recipe I will try this. I just made a hair tea of lavender and Candela flowers. It smells so good! You seem like you have a kind spirit… thank you for sharing your light and just being yourself. Peace and Blessings.
