Hair Growth Technique of the Week, Plus A New Hair Tea Recipe

Happy Mistletoe Goddess,

It is almost the night before Christmas and all through the house you can smell my Dandelion & Hibiscus Conditioning Hair Tea!

Me and The Greatest Kids In The World, have been busy little elves this Christmas season. We just celebrated the completion of our first semester of homeschool and now it’s on to the important work - the Family Christmas Jam.

This year, we’ve added some new songs to the holiday music rotation, and a dance off to Ho Ho Ho, by Alvin & The Chipmunks. I think Laila’s got it this year…

Since we’re all opting for protective styles this season (twists for one and all:), deep conditioning has been super important.

New Hair Tea Recipe

I discovered this recipe by accident a few years ago when my kids were learning to swim. I was looking for something to use on their hair when they came out of the pool. It had to be more conditioning than apple cider vinegar, but not leave any product buildup since I would be using it almost daily.

I had catnip, comfrey root and hibiscus. They worked well all week so this became the base recipe.

I slowly started to add more ingredients to see if it made a difference. Chamomile flowers, lavender, different essential oils, vegetable glycerin — all were good but I found the recipe below to be the most conditioning.

Hair Growth Technique of the Week | Sexy Scalp Massage

Scalp massage is one of the simplest ways to stimulate blood flow to your scalp and increase hair growth. Whether I was relaxed, transitioning, or fully kinky, I’ve always used scalp massage. One of my early hairstylists swore by it, and she was right…miss you Jancy!

A little goes a long way (a few seconds in each area) and gentle is best (always use your fingertips, not your fingernails)

How often should I do it?

Practice scalp massage a minimum of 3x this week with or without hair oils (depending on what your hair likes). If you’re not sure if your scalp likes oils, opt to go without it. You can always add some on another day.

See how I do my scalp massage and finger detangling:
