Hello Naturalista!
Are you ready for some football?
I’m actually ready for the food and commercials and there’s a HUGE SuperBowl Party our neighbors are having (complete with kiddie pools, triple big screen tvs, and outside barbecue - you can tell we’re in Hawaii:)
None of my teams made it this year but since Peyton is my homeboy and Richard Sherman is my new favorite player, I’m ready to see who comes out on top.
So who you got- Broncos or Seakhawks?
For this weekend’s SuperBowl Hair Wash Extravaganza — I’m going BIG with my all time fave - The Bentonite Clay Wash.
I have a lot of product buildup on my hair and don’t want to spend too many hours in my hydrotherapy spa (i.e. bathroom). Plus, this is a wonderful cleanser and conditioner, it’s a super detangler, adds shine. I’ve tried lots of oils in this wash and safflower is the lightest while adding the most shine to my hair. Do you have a favorite?
If you haven’t tried clay - this is the recipe for you. If you love clay like I do, switch up your liquids. Try some coconut water or green tea this time.
Here’s what you’ll need:
-
3 Tbsp bentonite clay
-
3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
-
3 Tbsp honey (I like a lot in my mix)
-
2 Tbsp marshmallow root powder
-
1 Tbsp Safflower Oil (jojoba, coconut, and avocado oils will also work)
-
up to 1 cup of aloe vera juice (add liquid slowly and use more or less liquid depending on how thick you like your mix; coconut water and grapefruit juice also work well; )
-
4 to 6 drops of your lemon essential oil (or use your favorite:)
Instructions
- You can mix this in a bowl or with your blender.
- Mix clay and vinegar first.
- Add sunflower oil and honey.
- If it starts to clump up on you, begin adding water. Start with 1 cup and continue to add until you reach your desired consistency. I like mine to be pourable but it’s up to you.
- Apply it to your hair, let it sit for 30 to 45 minutes, and rinse…well.
Play with your ingredients. This is a basic recipe…it likes when you add to it! Watch me make a clay wash here.
