Video | Recipe Quickie “Avocado & Chia Chunky Butter” for Hair & Skiin

October 28, 2016 by Erica King

Hello Naturalista!

Chia seed oil helps prevent hair loss by nourishing the hair follicle. The fatty acids help balance the natural sebum levels of the scalp, which means more luscious shiny curls for you!

The linoleic and oleic acids in chia seed oil act as natural emollients. This lubricates, heals, and repairs the skin.  The high levels of fatty acids in chia seed oil also helps protect against sun damage.

This is great because you know how I feel about sunscreen…

A Note About Softness

I love pulling out this recipe in the cooler months because it’s deeply moisturizing, nourishing, rich, and non-greasy. The butters you use for this recipe are typically very soft. So soft they often don’t need to be warmed. If they do, warm them in a heat safe container placed in hot water so that they are soft enough to stir.

This butter goes on like a lotion and glides into your skin like massage oil. It helps heal eczema, speeds wound healing and the disappearance of scars. For your hair, it’s great for sealing ends and getting rid of dry, brittle hair. It’s super light and doesn’t cause a lot of product buildup. A little goes a long way so no heavy-handedness with this one!

Luscious, soft butter that's excellent for your winter regime. Use it to seal your ends, protect your hair shaft against the winter elements, and adding a nice dose of moisture to your hair and skin. Loves to be applied at night before bed:)

Ingredients
  1. 2 1/2 tablespoons avocado butter (softened)
  2. 1 tablespoon chia seed oil
  3. 1 teaspoon cocoa butter (softened)
  4. 1/8 teaspoon broccoli seed oil
  5. 1/8 teaspoon calendula extract
Instructions
  1. Add the ingredients to your container in the order listed.
  2. Once you have mixed your all of your ingredients, add extra cocoa butter (about 1/2 teaspoon) and mix them into your butter.
  3. This puts the chunky in the chunky butter! These tiny cocoa butter pieces will melt into your fingers, hair and skin once applied. It leaves an added shimmery shine to your curls. It's also deeply moisturizing and lubricating to your hair and skin.
Notes
  1. Store in a 4oz jar or container.
