Cactus Fenugreek Conditioner Recipe (Video)

July 30, 2015 by Erica King

Hello Goddess,

Have you ever followed a specific method or regime for your hair?

Maybe the Max Hydration Method or the Curly Girl Method?

I haven’t followed a specific regime, maybe the Loc Method here and there, but that was before I discovered the Water Only Hair Wash Method.

I’m on Day 11 and my hair is softer and I feel like I have full sebum coverage — a verrrrrrry necessary part of this method.

I’m taping my results (so I can share them with you:) and seeing what happens over the next month.

While I’m collecting data, I have a new recipe!

If you love gels, plant, and food-based products — YOU. WILL. LOVE. THIS.

Check it out:)

Cactus Fenugreek Conditioner Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 medium cactus leaves (or pads)
  • 6 cups distilled water
  • 2/3 cup fenugreek powder
  • 1/2 fresh aloe vera leaf
  • 4 cups water
Instructions
  1. Cleanse and prep cactus leaves
  2. Cut into 4 pieces (better for food processing or grating)
  3. In a large bowl, grate the leaves into a pulp, or use a
  4. food processor.
  5. It’s ok if pieces are left in the cactus, we’re using it all!
  6. Add 6 cups of water.
  7. Let cactus conditioner sit for 2 to 3 hours.
  8. Start making fenugreek conditioner.
  9. Add 6 cups of water to fenugreek powder
  10. Let sit for 2 to 3 hours.
  11. Mixture will thicken A LOT.
  12. When 3 hours is up, combine conditioners in the same
  13. bowl.
  14. Use a strainer, t-shirt, nut milk bag, or scarf, to strain
  15. the cactus and fenugreek from the conditioner.
  16. Add to bottle.
  17. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

is this a rinse out conditioner?

You can use this as both a rinse out and a leave in. As a leave in, I use it to detangle, rehydrate dry hair, and as a conditioning hair spritz. For the hair spritz, dilute 2 to 4 ounces with distilled water. Let me know how it works for you!

Yes. We use it in Jamaica to wash hair naturally. We call it Too narrow (cactus). My mother told me about it so whenever I visit I take full advantage of all the natural hair plant sources. It’s so silky in the hair.

I have not considered doing the wohw method. I saw this recipe on yt and fell in love with the ingredients. Do you have to use for this method only? And can this recipe be used as a detangler condish and be used out before deep condish?
